Our Staff

Dr. Porter received his degree of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. He has spent many years focusing on and studying wellness. His background does include large animal practice, but his career has evolved to small animal and equine. Dr. Porter consults people from all over the nation on health and wellness with their animals. His journey has totally transformed the way he looks at veterinary medicine. He always includes the whole family in working towards the ultimate wellness of the animal. He believes that medicine is only one part of the picture. His love and compassion for animals and people shows in his everyday life. Dr. Porter has been married to his wife Gwen for over 41 years. They have 5 grown children, Phillip and his wife Stef, Megan and her husband Jason, Brooke, Julia, and Amber and her husband Adrian.They also have 4 grandchildren, Porter, Avery, Kendall and Olivia. Their pet family consists of 1 Corgi, Carley, 1 JRT, Fast Eddie, 5 cats, Jessie, Freddie, Molly, Margie and Harry, a donkey, pony, mini horse and lots of quarter horses.

Gwen has been a part of Dr. Porters clinic since 1995. Being a farm raised girl, her parents nurtured her love for pets. Her pets included dogs, cats, horses and goats. She considers her family her career.She now has the best of both worlds working at the clinic and getting to meet all the wonderful people and their pets. Her passion and joy is helping find home for unwanted and abused pets. Gwen is married to Dr. Porter and they have 5 children, 1 daughter-in-law, 2 son-in-laws and 4 grandchildren. Her goal is to make one's experience at Porter Ridge Vet Clinic a great one.
